More Digital Sketching

More Digital Sketching

I spent the last couple of days working on this digital sketch for whit would end up being a pretty large piece, probably overall dimensions of 10' wide by 12 1/2' tall. Thinking about stitching together the sheets with some sort of rahwide.

Starting to Piece Things Together

After doing a lot of reading and talking and thinking since returning from the residency, I'm starting to experiment with some things that were discussed and thought about to see where I need to take my work.  I often will put together digital sketches of my work, if for no other reason than the process is time consuming and I want to eliminate do-overs as much as possible. I've done a few digital sketches here just to get back into the swing of things.

"Power makes men mad, and those who govern are blind; only those who keep their distance from power, who are in no way implicated in tyranny, shut up in their Cartesian poele, their room, their meditations, only they can discover the truth." - Michel Foucault

717 Days to Go - Meet the Mentor

I'm very pleased that the mentor that I contacted has agreed to work with me. Based on our phone conversations, it seems to me that we are going to get along really well. We have an in-person visit scheduled, and I'm looking forward to that very much. My mentor for this first semester is Christine Collins. While not the original mentor that I had in mind, it became apparent to me after only a couple of days at the residency that I was going to get a recommendation for a mentor that did not line up with my original hope. I understand the change, it makes sense to me, and I think that this is going to work out really well.

720 Days to Go

A little light summer reading arrived today.

Evolution

My first exhibition since returning from the residency. I'm slowly starting to do things other than think, which is what occupied the largest portion of my time over the last 10 days. The books that I ordered should start showing up today, just in time for me to start absorbing them.
